Pergagau in Semporna an ‘eyesore’

“It is not only an eyesore but creates a bad impression for the tourists coming to Semporna,”

SEMPORNA: Bugaya state assemblyman Ramlee Marhaban has urged the Semporna District Council to shut down the refuse dump in Pegagau which he said was an eyesore for tourists.

He said the choice of the site, along a main road 10 kilometres from the town of Semporna, was a mistake.

“It is not only an eyesore but creates a bad impression for the tourists coming to Semporna,” he said in a statement today.

Ramlee, who is also Sabah assistant finance minister, said the council should find a more suitable site for the dump.

He also suggested that the District Council on Refuse be reactivated as decided by the State Cabinet recently.

Meanwhile in TAWAU the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) is constructing covered payment and billing counters to provide better services and for the convenient of consumers here.

SESB senior general manager (Asset Management) Muhamad Nazri Pazil said these counters, which were expected to be completed by next week, was being built after numerous complaints from consumers.

“We are concerned about consumers’ complaints and for their convenience, we are constructing covered payment and billing counter to replace the old structure,” he said in a statement today.

Muhamad Nazri said complaints and feedbacks could be emailed directly to www.sesb.com.my through its official portal of ‘Talk To Us’.

He said consumers are also advised to surf SESB website for latest billing via SESB’s Facebook (SESB’s Pages) and Twitter (media_SESB).
