Actions speak louder than words, so a strong leader does not have to use a lot of words to show his strength. He does so through fair and firm actions that are taken without fear or favour, regardless of race, religion or culture, and which are in the interests of the well being of the nation.
A strong PM would therefore not condone, even protect, ‘stupid’ people running his government and bankrupting it through thieving disguised as ‘stupidity’.
Like the leaders in most of our schools, i.e. the head teachers. During assembly they give long lectures about discipline, decorate school compounds and premises with beautiful slogans. They talk about making their schools excellent in all fields. At the end of the day, what have they got to show us and the world?
Rotten student discipline down to the level of criminal activities inside and outside of schools, even murder by pupils. Rotten academic standards that lag behind even countries such as Vietnam, contrary to the education minister’s claim that our schools are at par if not better than those in the US, UK, Germany.
It is not necessary to put Najib through a myriad of tests to find out his strengths in managing the country. Let us just put him through one test.
He is pushing GST down the throats of Malaysians, claiming that Malaysia’s finances are at a critical level and need the medicine of GST for Malaysia’s continued health. To justify this he cites examples of other countries that have introduced GST.
Dear Najib, Malaysia is not a country without natural resources. In fact, it has an abundance of these unlike many other countries. So why did a strong Prime Minister allow financial mismanagement to go on unabated under his nose to the point of bankrupting the country?
Has he never looked at the Auditor General’s reports? Would a strong PM who doubles up as finance minister as well, not lift a finger to stop the widespread thieving that is going on and dutifully reported by the Auditor General year after year, decade after decade?
He has been quick to castigate opponents of the GST (as a strong PM?) saying that they are only good at criticising but have never given any proposal for an alternative to find extra money for government management.
My dear Prime Minister, if you were a strong Prime Minister, do share with us the reason(s) why you have chosen to turn a blind eye to the AG’s reports and turn a deaf ear to the public protests against the thieving that is openly going on. What does your silence on this mean – that you are strong in protecting thieving civil servants?
If you are strong, as ordinary people understand the word ‘strong’, why have you not taken any measure to stop this huge, open theft of public money? Instead, you condone the MACC’s stand that this siphoning of public funds is the work of ‘stupid’ people and they cannot be charged for ‘stupidity’ which is not an offence! You have had years to plug this massive leak in the ship of which you are the captain, but have not lifted a finger to do anything.
Yet you are quick to say that your patience is not a sign of weakness! Why so patient with the thieves in the home over which you are the chief guard? Or do we misunderstand you, for you might be telling us that you are strong in protecting the rights of the guards in your employment as that is your policy of enabling them to climb the ladder of riches by making hay while the sun shines under your watch?
If you are a strong Prime Minister cum Finance Minister, stop this thieving as the money is the taxpayers’ money. All it would take is your signature on a piece of paper. You have no moral authority to push GST down our throats only for the ‘stupid’ people to continue the plunder. The public will finance good management and development, not plunder.
If your ‘patience’ is not a sign of weakness, show it through the action of putting your signature on a piece of paper ordering the Attorney General to charge all the ‘stupid’ people with Criminal Breach of Trust, or by whatever other means, getting rid of all the ‘stupid’ heads of departments, and you will have more than enough money without pushing GST down the wage-earners’ throats.
Your patience with ‘stupid’ people is a shame, not a pride.
