Terima Kasih kepada semua atas komen2 dan kritikan2 berkaitan dengan pertanyaan saya kepada Pegawai Daerah Penampang. Benar kah ada pembinaan MASJID kedua di Penampang atau tidak.
My vision of Sabah and her people are that we are not emotive or irrational over any issues.
It would seem those who have an 'issue' over what I asked are not looking at the GIST of the entire statement. If one was to really take the effort to read what I had stated and yes take away the irrational mind that is easily swayed by old skool politics of race and religion, it was merely to ask the District Officer on whether there is OR there is no 2nd Mosque to be constructed on the alleged site?
The answer by the District officer would quell down any rumours and will give us that opportunity to execute our duties when asked by our constituents. (since myself and the 2 DUNs representing our area have no access at all to the authorities and planning of Penampang). How can one ever know the 'actual' status on the said Land until the authorities confirm whether there is or there is no second Mosque to be constructed on it. The website promoting the mosque seems to indicate that the new second Mosque in Penampang will be constructed there. Now, we have queried the DO over this by way of letter and attachments and by statements and yet there is NO reply from him or his office. Now why is there no transparency or truth over this project, true or otherwise? Or even a simple denial or confirmation?
Some have said private land with private development, well ok, Mazu statue was the same. It was on a private land. The Difference is the Mazu project was at its ongoing phase after an approval by the local authorities and thereafter it was rejected for reasons already publicly known as used by these same authorities that may now probably approve this second Mosque in Penampang. What about if Mazu Project had been discussed and had had a dialogue with surrounding areas during the approval stage? The outcome may have been different and the Government would be unable to withdraw the approval. So have a dialogue la!
Yes, freedom of religion is paramount BUT when it comes to secretive deals, non transparency and WORST, no DISCUSSIONS or DIALOGUES with the neighbouring residents and areas, would that be respecting any RELIGION? I am no authority on religion but I think NO religion tells us to deceive the people. So don't go religion on me aah! For those who wants to debate on this, come, BRING IT ON!
If there had been a dialogue over this issue (between the Stakeholders and the Authorities and the Committee proposing the second Mosque) then we will be at least respecting the freedom of faith - where rationale, discussions and the needs of the surrounding areas are heard and dealt with).
Do not politicise this issue, it is simple COURTESY, have a DIALOGUE on the surrounding area and let the stakeholders / residents of the area affected put out their views in amicable manner as opposed to the current act of silence and non discussion at all. We shall then be able to see how and whether a Mosque, Church or any place of worship is suitable or not in the affected area.
For the RECORD and for you EMOTIONAL people there, THIS same requirement APPLIES also to any proposed CHURCH, TEMPLES and other places of WORSHIP - Discuss, Dialogue and bring all affected people of the area and do not bulldoze any projects.
As for some who said, the Cyber Outlets and other red area activities in Penampang should be the main issue, yes, that is true, and Me and my colleagues and even the man on the street have been asking the authorities what and why the hell are they doing this to Penampang - the cyber outlets have been raised and exposed so many times but yet the authorities remain silent and sometimes some knee jerk reaction like closing this and that outlets as a show it seems.
Think rationally la guys, this is the same AUTHORITIES that is not answering mine and your question on the second Mosque (it is as if there is something secretive going on) and yes, the same AUTHORITIES that has not done anything to CLOSE the illegal gambling cyber outlets and RED light activities all over Penampang!
And for the really sad people, this is not seeking popularity, this is a serious issue and I cannot avoid seeking the truth from the Authorities when my constituents have a serious question to ask.
So be rational la and be humble by first reading what we want! Maybe you 'emotive' ones should also ask the District Officer to stop avoiding this issue, is there or is there not a Second Mosque to be constructed on that site? and has there been a Dialogue with the Stakeholders of the surrounding area? and yes at the same time what about the cyber outlets and other red light activities in Penampang!
Have a great and educative Sunday.. to the emotive one read...read and read before commenting, it will help you.
